Security guard shoved to ground in Tesco cash in transit robbery in Aigburth

A security guard was shoved to the ground in a cash in transit robbery at a Tesco store in Aigburth1 .

Two criminals threatened the male victim and pushed him to the ground outside Tesco Express on Holmefield Road, at around 5.30pm tonight.

The offenders fled with a box, containing a quantity of cash, in what police have described as a silver vehicle.

Later tonight, a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.

Merseyside Police2 is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the early evening robbery to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Paul Ford from the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Unit said: We would urge anyone who saw either the robbery, or saw any suspicious persons in the vicinity of the shop around this time, to contact police .

We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver vehicle travelling at speed in the area following this offence.

This robbery took place at a busy time of day with many shoppers and commuters in the area, and would have been alarming to witness.
