SACKED: The Kiln Bar, Newcastle and inset, Ethan Lloyd.
HOSPITAL security guard Ethan Lloyd lost his job after he caused injuries to a female member of pub door staff.
The 23-year-old inadvertently hurt Jay Derrick when he tried to attack a man who had earlier assaulted him.
Magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard how the initial attack happened in The Kiln bar in Newcastle.
Lloyd was left bleeding heavily from injuries to his face.
He was removed from the pub and collapsed in the street following the incident on July 19.
The court heard that, as he was being tended to by a police officer who had been called to the scene, he saw the man who had attacked him.
Lynne Warrington, prosecuting, said: “The defendant saw the male party to the earlier assault.
“He ran over to him and charged into his chest.”
As he did so, he barged into another man, Paul Gerrity, and Miss Derrick.
Mr Gerrity was not injured, but Miss Derrick was left with a graze to her foot.
Lloyd, of Lime Street, Stoke, was arrested and accepted his actions.
The defendant, who has no previous convictions, went on to plead guilty to two charges of assault.
Kate Preston, mitigating, said it was ‘a very unfortunate incident’.
She added: “The defendant accepts that, while he didn’t set out to cause that mischief to those individuals, but for his actions it would not have happened/
“Until this incident, he had been working at the local hospital as a security guard.
“Unfortunately, because of these charges, he has lost his job.
“He has been punished two-fold as a result of this incident.
“He sustained injuries, he has lost his job and lost the prospect of working in that capacity in the near future, if ever.”
Magistrates gave Lloyd a six-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay 50 in compensation to Miss Derrick.
He must also pay 135 in court costs, 150 criminal court charge and a 15 victim surcharge.
