Prior to the event opening both street artist Banksy and Amnesty International joined together to distribute the posters across the capital.

The posters, which highlight the dreadful record of arms dealing by Lockheed Martin, BAE systems, Finmeccanica and many others, have been displayed in protest at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) arms exhibition.

Here s why.

Earlier this year, arms dealers in the UK supplied over 5bn worth of assorted death dispensers to countries recognised internationally for major human rights violations. These countries include Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, China, Yemen and Russia.

The UK Director for Amnesty International, Kate Allen says that our country needs more effective controls in the disgraceful business of arms dealing.

This is the advertising campaign the government didn t want you to see.

In the past, torture equipment has been on offer right on our doorstep. Things like illegal leg irons and electric-shock batons have been shamelessly advertised and it s blindingly obvious the law needs tightening up.

We need strengthened laws and crucially we need proper enforcement to stop Britain being used as a showroom for torturers to advertise their disgusting wares.

The guest list reads like a who s who of dodgy regimes.

London should be ashamed of playing matchmaker between these companies and countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Azerbaijan.

Sajid Javid needs to clean up this arms fair and stop the UK being used as a shop window for torture equipment.

Well yes, how can one fail but to agree with her. It s true. The Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT) estimates that the total value of weapons export licenses issued by the UK government since 2014 to be more than 8bn.

However TfL didn t hear what Kate Allen was saying.

So naturally enough all their spokie had to say about the ads was this;

This is not an authorised advert. It is fly-posting and therefore an act of vandalism which we take extremely seriously. We have instructed our contractor to remove any found on our network.

Oh please do STFU Transport for London.

One day we ll all be commuting by bike so there ll be no need for you or your absurdly expensive mode of transport.

Anyway. Back on point. It seems to me that with all the mortal problems plaguing our world today trading with these vile countries is one of the shittiest things we can do.

I mean how can our government justify selling arms to a country where human rights are practically illegal?

Like Russia. China. In Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Yemen they actually execute people for even thinking about human rights.

I dunno, maybe UKGov has quietly agreed that these countries can execute people just as long as we can keep the bullets flowing freely.

After all an execution is an embarrassing spectacle without the bullets.

And finally.

My Dad once told me that if the world stopped spending money on arms, for just one week, then we could use that money to feed humanity for eternity.

Think about that Transport for London.
