A fight inside a popular downtown Davis nightclub turned deadly early Saturday.
Officers with the Davis Police Department responded to KetMoRee Thai Restaurant and Bar, which turns into a club at night, around 1:30 a.m. A 23-year-old victim from Southern California who has yet to be identified was stabbed during the fight and transported to UC Davis Medical center to treat serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Lt.
Tom Waltz with the Davis PD.
Authorities were on scene at 238 G St. for more than 12 hours gathering evidence. From what they gathered, detectives identified three adult males involved in the fight.
One of the suspects was arrested, and police are actively searching for the remaining two.
Police say they have not ruled out gang involvement regarding the three suspects, and that there are no indications the victim did anything to provoke the fight.
Former employee of KetMoRee, Danielle Patterson, was not surprised that a fight broke out at the restaurant, I saw a lot of fights happen often especially when you work club night.
However, UC Davis student Rafaela Bustanante said she was worried about her safety, Going out, I always thought it was safe, but it s scary now.
