Eluiso Manuel Pereira will return to court on January 22
A YEOVIL man who denied assaulting a security officer at Yeovil District Hospital after he was restrained has had his trial date postponed until the New Year.
Eluiso Manuel Pereira, 32, of St Patrick’s Road, allegedly walked into a ward at the hospital in the early hours of the morning and when challenged by staff was said to have struck one of the guards on the head after being taken to the floor.
He denied an allegation that he assaulted Leonard Kay by beating him during the incident on August 2.
At a previous hearing defending solicitor Gareth Webb said his client accepted he slapped the victim in the face as he was being restrained in a manner that was painful and undignified.

The matter had been adjourned for a trial on November 23, but the case was postponed until January 22 when Pereira must return to the court.
In the meantime his bail was extended on condition he does not attend Yeovil District Hospital at any time unless in the event of an emergency.
