AGE UK and Isle of Axholme representatives have spoken out, following the charge of a 17-year-old boy in connection with a burglary in the area. The charge relates to an incident at an address in Margrave Lane, Garthorpe. Separately, police have expressed concern after a rise in crime across the Isle.
Humberside Police previously released a statement urging residents to keep their homes secure and reporting anything that appears suspicious.

“Officers continue to investigate over 20 reported burglaries from homes in the Isle of Axholme area of North Lincolnshire since August 1.”
And now, councillors and Age UK have spoken out to reassure anyone concerned by other burglaries. North Lincolnshire councillor David Robinson, who also sits on Epworth Town Council as ward member for the Axholme central ward, chaired the latest meeting of the Neighbourhood Action Team meeting for Axholme central.
He said: “The issue of the recent burglaries was discussed and has been added as a priority for the Neighbourhood Action Team and will be reviewed again.”

“I must admit I was fairly reassured by what the police spokesperson had to say at the Neighbourhood Action meeting and I believe things are going in the right direction.”
Deputy chief for Age UK North Lincolnshire, John Lee, said advice and guidance is readily available for residents wanting to know how they can keep their homes secure. He said that Age UK has a handy man service who can install items such as key safes and window locks. Mr Lee said: “If anyone is concerned the handy man can advise them.”
He added that Age UK’s home visiting service also gives residents the chance to bring up other security concerns, even if the visit is not made for that reason in the first place.
