A night out for a group of Brazilian friends at a Woking1 town centre nightclub turned to terror when two brothers sparked a booze-fuelled bar room brawl. Stanley Mosley reacted angrily when he thought someone in the group had insulted him and James Mosley waded in with his fists when he thought his younger sibling was under attack, Guildford Crown Court2 was told on Friday (October 21). In the melee which followed at Bed Bar, Woking, 26-year-old gardener Luis Ramos Pais was knocked down and his girlfriend Luci-Bella Graycie was hit on the nose.
Several other people suffered injuries in the disturbance, said Tim Devlin, prosecuting.

It led to James Mosley, 21, and Stanley Mosley, 19, both receiving custodial sentences when they appeared for sentence for their part in the incident on September 11. James, of Westfield Way, Woking, was given an eight-month prison term after pleading guilty to affray and assault causing actual bodily harm to Mr Pais. Stanley, of Larch Avenue, Guildford3, was given four months behind bars after admitting affray. An ABH charge against him was dropped.
Passing sentence, Judge Robert Fraser said the incident had been a frightening one for punters caught up in the brawl.

Mr Devlin said: A group of Brazilian people were enjoying an evening at Bed Bar. One of the two defendants became aggressive and an attack was launched on the group. He said Mr Pais was punched to the floor when he intervened to calm down the disturbance.
The sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court
Unprovoked attack
He has little memory of the event, said Mr Devlin.
He added: A number of people were knocked over and kicked and punched. It was a crowded night club. It was not an ideal place to start a fight. Mr Pais had to have medical treatment for a cut lip and a cut on the back of the head. In a victim impact statement read to the court, Mr Pais said: This assault happened without any provocation.
He said his 440 mobile phone, which contained many contact numbers, was damaged.
It made my job as a gardener very difficult, he said.

‘He doesn’t like jail’
The court heard that both men, who work for a family firm of tree surgeons and landscape gardeners, had a number of previous convictions. James has convictions for threatening behaviour and common assault while Stanley has convictions for battery, possessing an offensive weapon and dangerous driving. Lance Whiteford, for James, said: He saw his brother attacked and lost his temper.
He accepts he behaved terribly and he expresses genuine remorse. He was intoxicated. But he doesn t seek to excuse his behaviour. He said his client had spent 39 days in custody since the incident.
He doesn t like it, said Mr Whiteford. Ms Lisa Stewart, for Stanley, said: My client had clearly consumed too much alcohol.
He believed he had been insulted but his actions were completely disproportionate.
He realises that people were frightened by what happened.
