Security guard needs 17 stitches after Saturday night altercation

Eric Martinez, a security guard at the Midwest Girls Club in Grand Island, needed 17 stitches after a patron bit him on the ear during a disturbance Saturday night.

Yarek Morales, 31, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault following the incident . His 33-year-old brother, Yairo, was charged with misdemeanor assault.

The altercation occurred at about 11:30 p.m.

Grand Island police Capt . Jim Duering said the trouble began when one of the brothers got out of control .

When Martinez told him to leave, the suspect got into a physical altercation with the guard . His brother jumped in.

According to the court affidavit, Yarek Morales “assaulted the security guard while he was escorting another subject out.” The bite will leave permanent scarring, the affidavit says.

Yarek Morales, who lives at 1415 S . New Castle Road, Apt .

115, was released from jail after posting 10 percent of his $10,000 bond . A condition of his release is that he have no contact with Martinez, 37.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m . Nov .
