Double killer Christopher Halliwell had sick ‘murder sketchbook …

Double killer Christopher Halliwell1 had a sick murder sketchbook which could pinpoint burial sites of other victims, the Sunday People can reveal. Steve Fulcher, the detective who caught Halliwell, has told how a stash of puzzling pencil drawings was seized at his home. Taxi driver Halliwell was told last month at Bristol crown court2 that he must spend the rest of his life in prison for the murders of Becky Godden in 2003 and Sian O Callaghan in 2011.

But Mr Fulcher believes the sketches of rural scenes show places where Halliwell buried3 several other women. He said a forensic psychologist helping with the investigation believed the killer probably drew them as macabre trophies of his crimes.

Mr Fulcher went on: There were a good dozen or so sketches that I saw and they were all of remote locations. One of my lines of inquiry was obviously to try to identify where these places were.

All the evidence pointed to there being more victims. The theory I was working on was that if I could find those locations I could find other victims. Mr Fulcher whose career ended after he broke the rules while nailing Halliwell called in experts to help identify the locations and supplied sketches to other police forces.

He recalled: I wanted as many people as possible trying to identify these places. I left the inquiry a few weeks after and I don t know what happened after that.

Steve Fulcher believes the drawings show where he buried other women

But a source close to Wiltshire police4 told the Sunday People that the current investigating team did not even know about the existence of Halliwell s drawings. Karen Edwards, whose 20-year-old daughter Becky Godden was sexually assaulted and strangled by Halliwell, said: I think it is disgraceful but not surprising.

Wiltshire police obviously think they have their man now and don t have to follow up any more leads. But what about closure for other people?

Halliwell, 52, of Swindon, was already in prison for killing 22-year-old office worker Sian when he was charged with Becky s murder.

Missing Claudia Lawrence is feared dead

Both Mrs Edwards and Mr Fulcher believe police should have done more to investigate him over the disappearance of other women. Mr Fulcher branded the Wiltshire force investigation a shambles . He added: You couldn t make this up, it is just beyond description.

Recalling Halliwell s sketches, he said: They struck me as an odd choice of subject for an amateur artist.

I got a forensic psychologist to give me a hand. He said things like sketches could be sexual triggers subsequently. So he would look at a scene he has drawn and recall a victim and that would engender a sexual response. Mr Fulcher believes Halliwell could solve the mysteries of at least three missing women. Two vanished on the same date as Sian but in different years.

Becky Godden was killed by Halliwell

Linda Razzell, 41, went missing from her home in Swindon on March 19, 2002. Her husband Glyn Razzell was jailed for life but always claimed his innocence. Chef Claudia Lawrence, 35, disappeared in York in 2009. The date was again March 19.

That was also the date Sian O Callaghan disappeared in Swindon in 2011. Halliwell had been dumped by a girlfriend in the 1980s on March 19. He has also been linked to the disappearance of prostitute Sally-Ann John, 23, in Swindon in 1995.

She lived just around the corner from him. No trace of her, Linda or Claudia has ever been found.

Sian O’Callaghan is another possible vicitm

Mrs Edwards, 55, said after Halliwell was convicted of her daughter s murder: I believe he has been up and down the country murdering young women. Serial killers are triggered by dates. Halliwell was familiar with York.

The description of Claudia s murder suspect is identical a left-handed smoker, 5ft 8-10in, with slightly receding hair and a skinny build. Wiltshire Chief Constable Mike Veale insisted this week that his force has no evidence to link Halliwell to any other murders.

But Mr Fulcher added: I am going to be taking this through the political process, through my MP Sir Nicholas Soames, because I have good information that the stance taken by Wiltshire Police is not true.

Linda Razzell is another possible victim

There is specific information that links Halliwell directly to other victims. I m not able to go into further detail but I m asking for an inquiry into the failure of Wiltshire police to investigate.

“I shall be asking for it at the most senior level of government. Mr Fulcher was controversially found guilty of gross misconduct in 2014 for not following the correct procedure when Halliwell confessed to Becky s murder to him in 2011. He resigned from the police and is now a security consultant in Africa.

Mrs Edwards considers him a hero. She added: Steve Fulcher was an incredible police officer. He uncovered a serial killer. How can anyone punish him? A spokesman for Wiltshire police said: There has been some suggestion that there are people out there with a dossier of evidence linking him to other murders.

“We have no such evidence. If anyone has any information to assist with the ongoing inquiry, I would encourage them to make contact with us.
