Two men were arrested in the Charlton Road area of Keynsham on Saturday night, 1 October, after a member of the public called to report spotting a man on the roof of a shed. Officers were patrolling the area in response to a number of burglaries of sheds and garages in the past week. Soon after the call two men were arrested nearby. As officers carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area, another householder told them someone had made off after trying to open their house door.

An 18-year-old man of no fixed abode was later charged with attempting to enter an address in Keynsham as a trespasser with intent to steal and was due to face Bath magistrates on Monday 3 October.
“I would like to thank the householder whose vigilance and report of suspicious behaviour led to these arrests” – Insp Adrian Fallows
A second man, aged 20, from Bristol, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Neighbourhood Inspector Adrian Fallows said: Since Friday 23 September we ve had eight reports of burglary from sheds and garages in Keynsham, in which bicycles and power tools have been stolen.
We have been targeting our patrols in the area but I would like to thank the householder whose vigilance and report of suspicious behaviour led to these arrests. This is a good opportunity to remind people to check their home and outbuilding security. We all keep lots of items in our sheds and garages and the security needs to match the value of the property inside.
Make sure your garden has security lighting, sturdy fences and securely locked gates and that any outbuildings have good quality padlocks and tamper-proof fittings.
