A TEENAGER called his mum to say I love you just moments after being stabbed by a gang of drug dealers, a court heard. Nico Ramsay, 19, from London, was stabbed, kicked and punched in Queen s Road, Southend, by three men on February 13. Troy Lewis, 21, of Odessa Road, Forest Gate, East London, and Nathan Sylvester, 25, of Cornwallis Gardens, Hastings, East Sussex, are standing trial for murder at Chelmsford Crown Court.
The man who is alleged to have stabbed Mr Ramsay- 22-year-old Allcie Holder- is still wanted by police. Zac Cowell, a student living on the second floor of the University of Essex building told the court he looked out of the window after hearing cries of help . He said: I looked out the window, I saw four black males.
Male 1 was being very aggressive towards Nico, he was pushing and shoving. Male 2 was being aggressive but he wasn t touching Nico.
I assumed it was just a normal disagreement between friends. I went back to the table but I heard the cry again and I realised it was more serious so I turned to the window again.
The second time I looked out the men had moved.
Nico was leaning against the estate agents.
He pulled up his top to reveal a nasty wound. He was bleeding from it. The student said at that point he rushed down to help. During that time Mr Ramsay had staggered to the doorway of the building and was being tended to by a security guard.
Mr Cowell helped by applying pressure to the wound, while Mr Ramsay s friend stood nearby. Mr Cowell said: A few minutes later he pulled out a mobile phone and put it to Nico s ear. I heard him say: I m sorry mum, I love you.
The friend then said he had to go. I told him he needed to stay.
Mr Ramsay died four days later in hospital. The court also heard from Russell Jarvis, who was working nearby. He described 6ft 3in tall Sylvester as a big lump who appeared to be the ringleader of the group. He said: He seemed to be the chatty one. He seemed to be more animated than anyone else.
The athletic fella was standing over him, he s kicking him and putting the boot in.
After the incident, Mr Jarvis said he heard one of the men say: Don t ever call me a p****. This ain t over. The trial continues.
