A COUNCILLOR has suggested extra safety measures should be taken after a man’s death at Llanelli’s multi-storey car park. Councillor John Jenkins has spoken out following the death of a man, named locally as Andrew Williams, last week. The incident took place on Wednesday and was attended by Dyfed-Powys Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service2 and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue. Mr Jenkins’s comments come after residents and businesspeople in the town suggested extra barriers should be fitted to the area at the back of the Murray Street car park.

He said: “I think it’s logical that if one side is fenced off then the full perimeter should be. It’s the third incident in as many years and I think it should be resolved, the sooner the better.

“Things need to be in place to make it safer. To be fair to the council they have done half of the car park, the most accessible part, but all should be done. My thoughts go out to him and I feel sorry for those he left behind.”
