A DUNDEE man who won a UK-wide beauty pageant was bottled by a woman at a nightclub in the city. Reigning Mr British Empire, Brett Walker, was attacked by Amelia Craig at Liquid nightclub. Brett, 22, today told the Tele the incident had occurred after Craig s boyfriend had approached him and accused him of speaking about her.
Door staff stepped in and ejected them both from the club. As they were being led out, Craig, 19, of Riggs Place, Cupar, approached the Douglas factory worker and smashed a bottle over the back of his head. Brett said: We were being led out by security staff and she hit me on the head with a bottle.
She burst the back of my head open and I had to go to A&E.
I had the cut glued back up. They asked me if I wanted it stitched or glued, and I said that I didn t want stitches.
I didn t even know who she was. I am happy that I can put it all behind me now. It is better than having to wait, wait and wait, not knowing what is going to happen.
At least she hit me in the back of the head rather than the face I have a scar on the back of my head from where she hit me now.
I am glad she pled guilty and that she has now been brought to justice I just want to put it all behind me.
Brett was crowned Mr British Empire at a competition in London. He is set to jet out to China next year to take part in Manhunt, an international pageant, representing Britain, and said that the attack could have impacted the modelling career he has now embarked upon. Brett, who also works as a nightclub security guard, along with his production job at the city s Tokheim factory, said that his experience working the doors meant that he was unlikely to look for trouble while on a night out.
He said: I do the doors myself and I know how much hassle it is when people act like that. I never cause any trouble.
It is usually me that s the one splitting up the fights. There is no point causing bother, especially if you have done the job. At Dundee Sheriff Court, Craig admitted one charge of assaulting Brett by spitting at him and striking him with a bottle on July 2.
Sentence was deferred until October 12.
