Energy company Third Energy facing opposition from community on Yorkshire fracking site will only be heard in courts on the 22nd of November, delaying works until 2017.
Third Energy obtained a full licence in 2011 for operations in the Kirby Misperton Site. It has been trying to frack in the area since 2015. Third Energy has nine well sites for gas in the area already.
Concerned communities worry about possible environmental and health impacts of fracking.
Only Third Energy has full fracking licensing in the UK at the moment.
Energy firm Cuadrilla was barred in 2011 after causing earth tremors during fracking in Lancanshire.
Fracking happens when oil or gas is unlocked from shale deep in the earth using a combination of high pressure sand, water and chemicals.
In some occasions this is done on previously drilled wells to pump out left over oil and gas that would not naturally rise up anymore due to lack of pressure.
Deals with Third Energy would leave the community with 1% of gross profits. This would total 70 million over 20 years by their 2015 estimates1.
North Yorkshire council has voted to approve works in Kirby Misperton earlier in May this year. The majority of councillors decided fears were unwarranted.
Andrea Leadsom said then that the Government was looking forward to the safe exploration of shale gas beginning and finding out just how much of this home grown energy supply is available to power our homes and businesses
We re very clear that fracking is a fantastic opportunity.
It s good for jobs, the economy and strengthens our energy security, she said.
