Ah, the good old days. If there’s one thing Arsenal fans love more than a good Twitter rant, it’s reminiscing about the days when they used to see their side win the league. That’s why ‘Arsenal Legends’ vs ‘Milan Glorie’1 – the charity match that saw a host of former Gunners back at The Emirates – had many Gooners drooling.
Robert Pires, Nwankwo Kanu,2 Emmanuel Petit, Dave Seaman and plenty more were back together in the red and white of Arsenal.

And while the occasionally daft events on the pitch were highly entertaining (Arsenal beat their Italian opponents 4-2), the real highlight of the day may have been the scene in the dressing room afterwards. Specifically, the image you can see above, which was posted on Twitter by Jens Lehmann. Why?
Well
1. Ljungberg on the right, Pires on the left
Perhaps it was just subconscious, but the Swede on the right-hand side, the Frenchman on the left

That was the exact magic wing formula of the 2004 Invincibles.
2. Kolo!
In an Arsenal shirt! Smiling! Back where he belongs!

3. Nigel Winterburn looking every inch the first team coach
The greying hair, the polo shirt, the calm fatherly presence amid the madness someone get Winterburn onto a training pitch with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs, sharpish.

4. Some of them looking exactly the same as they did back then
Lehmann, Pascal Cygan and Petit haven’t aged a day since they last played for Arsenal.

In the case of Petit, he would probably still have been of more use than Arteta or Flamini last season.
5. Even the ones who look older still looking ludicrously cool
Yep, it’s Freddie and Bobby again.

6. The fact a couple of Arsenal legends DON’T look quite so suave

God bless Ray Parlour and Giles Grimandi for bringing some humanity and normality to the party.
7. Justin Hoyte
Yes, JUSTIN HOYTE was part of the Arsenal Legends team.

That’s 31 year-old Justin Hoyte who is currently without a club, despite playing 68 games for The Gunners between 2003 and 2008. Presumably Lee Dixon’s absence (he was covering Slovakia vs England for ITV) meant they were particularly short of legendary right-backs.
Or perhaps Arsenal just wanted to remind the world that no man is forgotten at The Emirates
