Experts have urged parents to boycott an Abingdon electronic toy company after hackers stole photos of millions of children and parents. Names, ages, and genders were also taken in the security breach on VTech from its databases in November last year. But VTech, in Napier Court, sparked outrage among security specialists when it altered its terms and conditions on Christmas Eve to absolve itself of liability from breaches.

VTech spokesperson Lauren Willmott said: VTech has worked hard to enhance the security of its websites and services and to safeguard customer information. But no company that operates online can provide 100 per cent guarantee it won t be hacked. Details of about 6.3m children and 4.8m parents were affected. They were hacked from the company s Learning Lodge , which allows customers to download apps, games, and stories to VTech products. Australian website security author Troy Hunt said: The bigger picture here is that companies are building grossly negligent software.

And then simply not being held accountable when it all goes wrong.
