Irate relatives of a security guard who died on the premises of Chettinad Cement Factory at Road Kallur village in Chincholi taluk in Kalaburagi district and workers of the factory indulged in indiscriminate stone-throwing on the administrative office causing extensive damage to windowpanes and other articles on Thursday night.
According to reports reaching the district headquarters on Friday, the security guard, Basavaraj Bellad from Karagpalli, went missing after reporting sick within the factory on February 1.
All attempts to locate him or the body failed then . However, on Thursday, the workers of the factory found the decomposed body in a thorny bush a few metres away from the canteen of the factory leading to tension and violence within the factory complex.
The irate relatives and workers demanded compensation of Rs .
25 lakh and employment to a relative of the security guard on compassionate grounds.
After the situation turned violent, a police team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Jayaprakash and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravi Patil, rushed to the spot and brought it under control by pacifying the agitated employees.
Demand
The factory authorities conceded the demand and said they would Rs .
20 lakh compensation to the family of the security guard and agreed to provide employment on compassionate grounds to a relative of the security guard.
The police officials said that a case has been taken up but the factory authorities have not registered any complaint about the loss suffered during the violence.
