Jumpy security guard mistakes flapping noise on roof for gunshots: Police

A security guard investigating a burglary alarm at a Lancaster city business mistook a flapping noise on the roof for gunfire, prompting a large police response Saturday evening, LancasterOnline reports. 1

The website says as many as 20 police officers from two jurisdictions responded to the Ecore International building at 715 Fountain Ave .

The website reported the security guard was “investigating the activation of a burglar alarm when he discovered an open door to the business and heard what he believed to be five shots from inside.”

The incident was attributed to wind police say may have blown the door open and activated the alarm.
