Veolia snaps up UK biomass firm

Jan 06, 2016 1 Markets & Finance, Sustainability & Environment23 0

Waste management giant Veolia has bought a Gloucestershire-based biomass company.

It will take ownership of Boomeco s business and assets, including its facilities for processing waste wood into chips to be used in combined heat and power plants and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) operations, where fuel is produced from household waste.

Veolia said the purchase complements its strategy to manufacture green products and green energy as part of the move towards a low carbon economy.

Gavin Graveson, Veolia s Chief Operating Officer UK Public and Commercial said: We are making significant progress in our drive to increase the quality of energy we are delivering from renewable sources.

Post COP214, Veolia s ongoing expansion in biomass and RDF production will help the UK meet its 2020 carbon emissions targets, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enhancing domestic energy security.
