A security guard told how he was left with fractured cheekbone after a mass brawl in a Basildon1 McDonalds.
Violence erupted in the Festival Leisure Park restaurant when a row seemingly broke out between two men and two young girls queuing up for fast food.23
Michael Smith, 41, of Pretoria Avenue, Basildon, who works for Regency Security Group, recalled: I was by the counter at when it all kicked off.
I was trying to get to my colleague when I was smacked in the face . I am not sure what happened but I think someone punched me.
The men were arguing with two young girls and we asked them to calm down, but they weren t having it.
They started shouting and pushing us around and all of a sudden their mates got involved as well . There was only about three of us on at the time – we didn t stand a chance.
Video footage has emerged which shows about 20 people embroiled in the problems .
One man can be seen pointing and squaring up to another security guard.
He shouted: Have I done anything to you ? No, so shut your mouth.
Seconds later, five men pulled the security officer, who was wearing a high-visibility jacket, to the ground . He was punched in the back of the head.

During the fight, which took place on New Year s Day, another man can be heard shouting allow it! .
Following the fight, Mr Smith, was taken to Basildon Hospital4 and later to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford for treatment to a hairline fracture to his cheekbone.
He said: I am still getting quite a lot of pain in my face and my neck .
I can t open my mouth very wide and the bruising is starting to come up.
A McDonald s spokesman said: We are assisting the police with their investigation and cannot comment further at this time.
An Essex Police5 spokesman said: Police were called to McDonalds at Festival Leisure Park at 3.15am on Friday following reports of a disturbance involving approximately 20 people.
Officers attended and found two people, including a security guard, who had been assaulted but had not suffered serious injuries .
The suspects had run off.
