Securing A New Property

Moving up, or onto the property ladder is one of life s proverbial nervy experiences, like divorce, or redundancy. Ensuring your property is safe and secure should be made a priority, writes Dr Steffan George, pictured, development director of the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA1), a trade association for locksmithing.

Your new property may be one of the most expensive assets you will ever own, which makes securing your new home all the more important. Whether you re a homeowner or landlord, ensuring your property is safe and secure can not only add value to your property, but can save money and heart-ache in the long term.

Statistics show that over two thirds of new home owners do not change the locks on their property when moving in despite the risk that previous residents, their friends and family, or even tradesmen may still have keys to their home.

Changing the locks should therefore be a top priority after moving in. We would advise you contact an MLA approved locksmith to install a patented lock system. These systems may be particularly beneficial for landlords, as they prevent keys being copied without proof of ownership, therefore restricting the number of people with access to your property.

While property experts recommend conducting a building survey, you may also want to consider having a locksmith perform a security assessment.

This review will ensure you have the correct locks on windows and doors, not only to keep your property safe, but to also meet your specified insurance requirements. Your locksmith may also identify any vulnerable areas that require maintenance. Many members of the MLA will complete a security assessment free of charge.

It probably comes as no surprise to learn that burglars prefer the cover of darkness so, installing dusk till dawn lights on your property can act as a deterrent to potential thieves.

Consider installing an alarm system, as they can act as a deterrent and stop your home becoming a target for thieves. Regularly changing your alarm code, and only giving the details of this to trusted friends and family can also improve security.

If you don t intend on moving into your property right away consider using a number of inexpensive, yet effective tools to give the illusion that the property is occupied. Using fake TVs and timed lighting can be an effective deterrent to those who may have identified your home as a target.

Reviewing external security is crucial, overgrown hedges, holes or damage to any fences and gates could be seen as opportunities to gain access to your home. Consider installing high fences around your property as a cost effective way of safeguarding your home.

Moving into a new property is an expensive time for all new home buyers however, scrimping on the cost of security can result in further expense in the long term. Always ensure you buy high quality security systems, we would recommend items that have been independently tested approved and by a certification body such as Sold Secure.

To find a locksmith in your area visit the MLA website at www.locksmiths.co.uk2.

To review a list of independently tested and approved security products visit the Sold Secure website at www.soldsecure.com3.

Security guidelines for domestic properties can also be downloaded free, from the MLA s website4.

(A survey by the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network found that 86.2pc of 6,000 respondents do not even consider changing their locks when they move house.)

Insurance fraud report

Insurance Fraud Report

Fraud against insurers is costing the UK billions, says the Government s Insurance Fraud Taskforce1 in its review of insurance fraud. Although most claims are honest, frauds follow the money, as the review s final report puts it. Some solicitors and medics are active perpetrators of the fraud , it s claimed.

While the Taskforce was struck by good work done against such frauds, it spoke also of a lack of liaison.

The official Taskforce was announced at the Association of British Insurers s Motor Conference in December 2014, and set up in January 2015 to assess the scope of insurance fraud and recommend steps. The report calls on insurers to share best practice and data; to defend claims more robustly; and outside insurance, for the solicitors regulator the SRA to investigate dishonest solicitors.

Claims for whiplash injury are a particular target for fraudsters, as it s hard to prove or disprove; according to the report, insurers suspect a substantial proportion are exaggerated or fraudulent . Historically insurers fought fraud in isolation using small investigation teams and their own limited data to prevent repeat fraudsters; and while according to the reviewers there is plenty of room for improvement , insurance companies are sharing data more.

For example, price comparison websites could help to detect fraud at the application stage; yet they do not share intelligence with insurers on suspicious consumer behaviour as effectively as they could .

The report s authors suggest that fraud exists on a continuum, from application fraud to bogus, fictitious or intentionally inflated claims, to sophisticated organised crime. The report warns that otherwise honest people may indulging in opportunistic low-value criminal claims, and what it calls the normalisation of fraudulent behaviour is socially corrosive and undermines social cohesion by eroding trust. There is also no simple profile of someone who commits insurance fraud, and there are different degrees of criminality and pre-meditation.

Some otherwise honest people commit fraud when the opportunity presents itself; some people commit fraud that is premeditated and some fraud can even be linked to organised crime. There are also different types of insurance fraud such as claims fraud, where an insurance claim is fictitious or intentionally inflated, or application fraud, where facts are manipulated on an insurance application form to obtain a lower premium. The Taskforce is mindful that different types of fraud require different solutions.

For the full 92-page report2 visit https://www.gov.uk/3.

ABI welcome

James Dalton, ABI s Director of General Insurance Policy, said: We are pleased that the Taskforce s report recognises the industry s determination to protect honest customers by clamping down on insurance fraud through the 200 million a year the industry invests in tackling this problem.

Initiatives such as the Insurance Fraud Bureau, the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department and the Insurance Fraud Register mean that fraudsters are now more likely to get caught than ever and will face long-lasting and serious consequences, including a criminal record, a custodial sentence and difficulty in obtaining financial products, such as mortgages and loans.

The report highlights that the wide ranging nature of insurance fraud, including opportunistic and pre-meditated fraudsters, and in some cases rogue claims management firms and solicitors, requires different approaches and collaboration between the different agencies involved. The report rightly says that action is needed to tackle rogue CMCs, nuisance calls and claims for noise induced hearing loss.

The industry will do whatever it takes to protect honest customers from the dishonest minority, including ensuring that customers understand exactly what they are covered for, so that they can get the most from their insurance legitimately. The report calls for the Government to set up a body to take forward its recommendations, and we will work with whoever may be appointed to ensure that there is no hiding place for insurance fraudsters.

The recommendations are around regulation of CMCs and solicitors, nuisance calls, late notified personal injury claims and noise induced hearing loss claims.

The ABI pointsout that according to research it commissioned, 83pc of people have been contacted by a CMC encouraging them to claim. The ABI calls for fixed legal fees for all claims for noise induced hearing loss, pointing to how for every 1 paid in compensation, 3 is paid in legal fees.

SRA say

Paul Philip, Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA4) Chief Executive, said: Insurance fraud is a serious matter and we welcome the Task Force s report and its recommendations. In particular, the Task Force called on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal to adopt the civil standard of proof and we agree that has to be the right way forward.

Alongside that, reviewing our fining powers would make the system more efficient and effective.

We have, I think, made good progress on combating financial crime, not least in connection with the Home Office s professional enablers scheme, along with our own anti money laundering work.

But we know we have more to do and the report will help us with that.

We will also be carrying out a comprehensive review of the personal injury market this year and that will contribute further to our understanding of this area of the market.

Stand Up For Trans Justice: Sign The Petition Demanding That RDU + ...

Please sign this petition1 demanding accountability from TSA and Raleigh-Durham International Airport! YOI is in solidarity with Dolores and all trans and gender non-conforming people subjected to this kind of violence.

To Representatives of the TSA and Customer Service Relations at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport:

We, the undersigned organizations and individuals, are writing to express outrage over the treatment of RDU passenger and North Carolina resident, Dolores Chandler, during an incident involving Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Further, we demand that TSA and RDU take steps to immediately reform their practices and issue a formal apology to Dolores Chandler (see list of steps at the bottom of this letter).

Dolores Chandler identifies as transgender and uses gender neutral they/them pronouns.

Dolores frequently travels for both work and in their personal life. Dolores wears upper-body binders on a regular basis. This is a normal practice for transgender people; Dolores never anticipated that as a direct result, they would be subjected to a traumatizing and disrespectful experience at the hands of RDU s TSA agents.

On December 9, Dolores was catching a flight to New Jersey to attend a work-related conference.

Dolores is currently employed at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center as a rape and sexual violence prevention education specialist. Upon exiting the full body scanner at the security checkpoint, two areas of their body were flagged: their front/crotch area and the left side of their chest.

The following is Dolores account of the incident:

I consented to the first of several pat downs, which happened in public. The TSA agent ran her hands along my left side and felt what she called an anomaly because my left side was not the same as my right side.

She asked me what I had on and I replied, My undergarments . She then leaned down to look at my front/crotch area and said, Now what do you have going on down here? as she lifted my shirt slightly and prodded my around my waist.

Looking at someone s crotch and asking, What do you have going on down here? is not an appropriate question to ask anyone, regardless of their gender or gender presentation.

While in public, the TSA agent repeatedly and loudly referred to my chest area as having an anomaly . I explained what I was wearing at least two more times, and requested a private screening.

I was led there by 3 TSA agents.

Once in the private screening room, I was questioned again about my undergarments. Several times, I said to the TSA agents, I am wearing something that has clasps on the side. While attempting to communicate to the TSA officers that I was feeling stressed and uncomfortable, I was cut off and told there s no need to get emotional and patted down again.

The TSA officer shook her head at me and stated that there was an anomaly that she was unable to clear-up and that until the anomaly was cleared I would be unable to board my flight. Another supervising TSA agent informed me that if I felt so strongly, they could ask law enforcement to be present.

Another female supervisor was called in for another pat-down. She stood behind me and patted down my upper body.

She felt and dug deeply into my armpits. She held up a paper sheet in front of me and instructed me to hold it with each hand while I lifted my shirt with the opposite, so that she could inspect underneath. I m not sure what the sheet was intended to do because she leaned over to look beneath my shirt at my binder.

When they were done, they told me to have a good day and walked out of the room, offering no apology and leaving the door wide open.

I left the room and walked toward my gate in tears, I finally found a quiet place in the family bathroom where I sobbed for a long time.

Dolores filed a formal complaint through the TSA s website and received an inadequate response from RDU TSA Customer Service Representative, Karen Merrit, in which she stated that the TSA was following protocol.

While we understand that the TSA s top priority is security, the TSA also claims as part of its mission to treat travelers with fairness, dignity and respect. In this case, the TSA agents failed to do so. Dolores s treatment was insensitive, disrespectful, and done in public.

Dolores emphasizes that they have not had this experience at other airports.

In comparison, Dolores would like to uplift their experience Thanksgiving weekend at the airport in Austin, TX:

I recently traveled to Texas for the Thanksgiving holiday and was pleased by the presence of All Gender Bathroom signs. While I was subject to a pat-down at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport, the TSA agent was extremely respectful, communicated exactly where they would place their hands and did not touch me elsewhere. To me this shows that the TSA and its agents do have the capacity to treat travelers with dignity and respect, while still prioritizing security and safety.

This experience is just one in a well-documented history of inadequate and insensitive treatment of transgender travelers by the TSA.

The National Transgender Discrimination Survey indicated that 1 in 5 transgender travelers have reported harassment or disrespectful treatment by airport security. Countless transgender travelers have been outed without their consent in the process of trying to get through airport security, which sometimes results in further harassment and mistreatment by TSA agents and other airport staff.

The burden of how travelers are treated to ensure a dignified experience should not be on the passenger, but rather written into the policies, procedures, and practices of RDU and the TSA. A traveler should not have to talk openly nor explain their gender identity and expression with strangers in order to safely board their flight.

Durham and Raleigh are fast becoming desirable travel destinations and Research Triangle Park is a high tech region that attracts international firms and enterprising start-ups.

RDU is often the first place encountered by those that travel to, or move to our area. Adopting inclusive and sensitive best-practices should be a top priority for our airport authority. We hope that RDU will use this as opportunity to re-evaluate its practices and procedures so that it can be a model to its peers for providing top quality, secure and respectful services.

We, the undersigned, demand that RDU do the following:

  • Issue a formal statement and apology that acknowledges the TSA agents disrespectful treatment of Dolores Chandler.
  • Provide a list of steps the agency will take to ensure that problematic practices change (for example the practice of assuming a person s gender before they enter a body scanner).

These steps should include a timeline and be made in consultation with organizations that represent transgender people, including but not limited to the LGBTQ Center of Durham.

  • Provide adequate training for TSA agents and RDU staff on transgender competency and adopt a screening policy in consultation with the trans community.

Thank you for your timely response to these requests.

Sincerely,

We, the undersigned

12 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Airports

Over the years, airports have evolved from bare-bones transportation hubs for select travelers to bustling retail centers for millions. They re being designed to both complement and influence human behavior. Everything from the architecture and lighting to the trinkets on sale in the gift shops is strategic.

Here are a few tricks airports use to help travelers relax, get to their gates safely and on time, and hopefully spend some money along the way.

1. They make sure you can see the tarmac

One key to a successful airport is easy navigation. Travelers should be able to get from security to their gate without getting lost, with help from subtle design cues nudging them in the right direction.

In design lingo, this process is called wayfinding1. I tell my staff that signage is an admission of failure, says Stanis Smith2, executive vice president and leader of the airports sector3 at consulting firm Stantec. Obviously one needs signs, but the best thing for designers to do is look for ways you can assist with wayfinding that are subtle.

For example, in many new airports, passengers can seen through to the tarmac immediately after they leave security, or sooner.

More important than anything is a view directly out to airside and you see the tails of all the aircraft, says Robert Chicas4, Director of Aviation and Transportation at HOK5, the architectural firm that helped redesign the Indianapolis International Airport6. Does it matter whether it s your aircraft? Probably not.

It gives you an orientation so you know generally that s the direction you need to head in.

2. The signs send subliminal messages:

12 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets Of Airports

Very, very little in the style of an airport sign is arbitrary, writes7 David Zweig, author of Invisibles: The Power of Anonymous Work in an Age of Relentless Self-Promotion8. Take the font, for example.

In 75% of all airports, you ll find one of three typefaces: Helvetica9, Frutiger10, and Clearview11. All three are sans serif because it s easier to read at a distance. The unofficial rule for size, according to the Transportation Research Board s guide to wayfinding12, is that every inch of letter height adds 40 feet of viewing distance (so a 3 inch tall letter would be legible from 120 feet ).

Sometimes different terminals will have their own distinct signature sign design13 like rounded edges or a specific color. If you are ever in an airport or campus or hospital or other complex environment and suddenly something feels off, you sense you are going the wrong way, there s a good chance it s not just magic or some brilliant internal directional sense, Zweig writes14, but rather you may be responding to a subconscious cue like the change of shape from one sign system to another.

3. They lighten the mood

Newer airports incorporate as many windows as possible, even in stores.

There s a trend that the shops face the tarmac. Passengers tend to walk more into shops that have direct access to the sunlight, says Julian Lukaszewicz15, lecturer in aviation management at Buckinghamshire New University. If they re closed off with artificial light passengers feel they are too dark and avoid them.

4.

They herd you with art

12 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets Of Airports

That big sculpture in your terminal isn t just there to look pretty. It s another tool to help travelers navigate. We like to use things like artwork as kind of placemakers that create points of reference through an airport terminal, says Smith.

For example, in Vancouver International Airport16 we have a spectacular 16-foot high sculpture at the center of the pre-security retail area. People say, Meet you at the sculpture. It acts as a point of orientation.

Art also serves to create a sense of place, transforming the airport from a sterile people-mover to a unique atmosphere where people want to spend time (and money!).

In one survey, 56% of participants said a more culturally sensitive and authentic experience tied to the location is something they d like to see more in airports by 2025.

5. They use carpeting

In many airports, the long walk from check-in to gate is paved in linoleum (or some other hard-surface). But you ll notice that the gate waiting area is carpeted.

This is an attempt to make holding areas more relaxing by giving them a soft, cozy feeling, like you might find in your own living room. Happy, relaxed travelers spend 7% more money on average on retail and 10% more on Duty Free items17. And it doesn t stop with a layer of carpeting. Yoga rooms18, spas, and even airport therapy dogs19 are becoming more common as airports look for new ways to relax travelers and encourage spending.

6.

The golden hour is key for profit

In airport manager lingo, the time between when a passenger clears security and boards their plane is called dwell time. This is when, as the Telegraph puts it20, passengers are at a loose end and most likely to spend. Especially crucial is the golden hour, the first 60 minutes spent beyond security, when passengers are in a self-indulgent mood21.

Display boards listing flight information are there in part to keep you updated on your flight, but also to reassure you that you still have plenty of time to wander and shop. Similarly, some airports are installing time to gate 22 signs that display how far you are from your destination. And because 40% of us would prefer to avoid human interaction23 when we shop, self-service kiosks are becoming more common in airport terminals.

According to the Airports Council International24, 50% of American airports now have robo-retailers.

7. They re increasing dwell time

The golden hour is great, but two golden hours are even better. One hour more at an airport is around $7 more spent per passenger, says Lukaszewicz.

Anything that s automated, from check-in to bag drop, is meant to speed things up. And it works. Research suggests automated check-in kiosks are 25% faster25 than humans.

A lot of airports, especially in Japan and New Zealand, are now doing this, where you don t actually get any assistance from any staff member from check-in, says Lukaszewicz. You print your own baggage tag. You put it on the bag on the belt.

You go through auto-security and immigration where there is no one. At the boarding gate you just touch your barcode and they open a gate and you walk onto the plane without any interaction. One study26 found that for every 10 minutes a passenger spends in the security line, they spend 30% less money on retail items.

Last year, the TSA announced27 it would give $15,000 to the person who comes up with the best idea for speeding up security.

8. Shops are strategically placed

Most airport spending is done on impulse28 (no one really needs a giant pack of Toblerone), so the key is getting the goods out where they can be seen by as many people as possible. Shops are located where airport footfall is highest.

Some airports force passengers to wander through Duty Free to get to the gates. And the more twists and turns, the better. According to one report29 from consulting company Intervistas30, Duty-Free shops with serpentine walk-through designs have 60% more sales because 100% of customers are exposed.

Shops and restaurants are often clustered to evoke a Main Street feel, because people tend to shop in bustling environments.

It s no different than if you re in a town in Europe or in Manhattan, Smith says. Retail succeeds when it has a critical mass.

9. They go local

Airport shops are packed with souvenirs and trinkets that reflect the local culture because that s what travelers want to buy.

For example, more than 20 years after its release, Sleepless in Seattle shirts31 are still a top-selling item at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. In the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, shoppers go wild32 for potted cactus plants. Local brands, local services, reinforce this idea of place, and that you are in a special place on your way to the rest of the world, says Ripley Rasmus33, senior design principal at HOK.

10.

Walkways curve to the left

The majority of humans are right-handed, and according to Intervistas34, this influences airport design. More sales are generated if a walkway curves from right to left with more merchandise and space on the right side because passengers are looking right while (perhaps unconsciously) walking left, says one report35.

11. A single queue puts us at ease

12 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets Of Airports

While the line for check-in and security may seem absurdly long, a single queue actually lowers stress levels by increasing the perceived sense of fairness, according to Lukaszewicz.

No one worries the other line is going faster than theirs, because there is no other line. If you implement a one-queue system for check-in, or for security, so one long line and then you go just to the next available counter, passengers perceive it as more fair because each person standing in the same line, he says. It s strange but true because you always think the queue next to you moves quicker.

12.

The security officers get conversational

Since 2007, the TSA has been pouring $200 million a year36 into agents trained to spot suspicious behavior in passengers. The program, called Screening of Passengers by Observation Techniques (SPOT) was developed by a psychology professor at the University of California Medical School in San Francisco named Paul Ekman. It involves a list of 94 signs of anxiety and fear, like lack of eye contact or sweating.

But one report37 found that SPOT is ineffective because “the human ability to accurately identify deceptive behavior based on behavioral indicators is the same as or slightly better than chance.”

Another method of screening passengers is simply to talk to them. A 2014 study38 found that asking open-ended questions known as the Controlled Cognitive Engagement method (CCE) is 20 times more effective than trying to monitor based on behavior. For example, an agent might ask a passenger where they re traveling before prodding them with a random question like where they went to college and what they majored in, then watch for signs of panic.

If you re a regular passenger, you re just chatting about the thing you know the best yourself, says39 researcher Thomas Ormerod, PhD, head of the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex in England.

It shouldn t feel like an interrogation.

In the study, officers using conversation-based screening caught 66% of deceptive passengers, compared to just 3% who used behavior-based screening.

Hillary Clinton's Socialist Manifesto Shows Why Women Shouldn't …

$

It is no surprise that most men are inclined towards freedom and individualism, while most women are inclined towards security and collectivism. Building on this dichotomy, we have many examples of women finding the preference of security and collectivism illustrated in large, bloated welfare government.

For one, the Pew Research states Women lean Democratic by 52% unmarried women 57% 1. In a similar article, Since 1990, women have been consistently more likely than men to identify as Democrats or lean Democratic2.

Nothing is closer to socialism and statism in modern America than the American left and the Democratic party. In case you didn t know, they have an actual socialist running in the primaries. The Democratic party continues to represent women and their beliefs of security and collectivism.

You Must Love Big Brother

The ultimate caricature of the left, Hillary the woman Clinton, illustrates her ideas of collectivism in her creepy 1996 Communist Manifesto, It Takes a Village3.

The title of her book itself should give you shivers. The book illustrates its eerie socialist message of collectivism and state security. An excerpt from the Chapter Brave New Village from Jonah Goldberg s book, Liberal Fascism4, exemplifies Clinton s idelogy of state controlled community accurately:

Hillary Clinton's Socialist Manifesto Shows Why Women Shouldn't ...

Gross

(the) notion of the common good she (Clinton) indisputably draws her vision from the same eternal instinct to impose order on society, to create an all-encompassing community, to get past endless squabbles and ensconce each individual in the security blanket of the state.

Hers is a political religion, an updated Social Gospel- light on the Gospel, heavy on the Social- spoken in soothing tones and conjuring a reassuring vision of cooperation and community The village may have replaced the state , and it in turn may have replaced the fist with the hug, but an unwanted embrace from which you cannot escape (Goldberg, 357)

The idea of women embracing the left and socialism is not new to modern America, either. Throughout history we have many examples of such behavior from women. In John Derbyshire s 2009 classic We Are Doomed5 (a must read), he explains:

The gender gap in political attitudes has been remarked on since at least 391 B.C.

That was the year Aristophanes staged his play The Assemblywomen (Ecclesiazusae). In the play the women of Athens, disguised as men, take over the assembly and vote themselves into power. Once in charge, they institute a program of pure socialism:

Everyone is to have an equal share in everything and live on that; we won t have one man rich while another lives in penury, one man farming hundreds of acres while another hasn t got enough land to get buried in No one will be motivated by need: everybody will have everything the children will regard all older men as fathers

The play wright grasped the essential point Women incline to socialism much more naturally than do men. (Derbyshire, 88)

Hillary Clinton's Socialist Manifesto Shows Why Women Shouldn't ...

Women illustrating adherence to the party

Mr.

Derbyshire continues:

George Orwell, whose insights into these matters were very deep, also noticed this (women s inclination to Socialism) Winston Smith, the protagonist of 1984, observe(s):

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of orthodoxy

I (Derbyshire) saw the same thing myself when living in communist China in the years just after Mao. If you wanted to hear a total-credulity, utterly unreflective parroting of the Party line, a woman was always your best bet. (Derbyshire, 88)

In America, when women were granted the right to vote, it opened a solid voting bloc for Left statists for years to come. Ironically, gyno-con Ann Coulter (a brilliant conservative woman; yes, they exist, but rare) states:

It would be a much better country if women did not vote.

That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 except Goldwater in 64 the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted. An appalling magic in The Guardian (17 May 2003)

Gentlemen, it all went to shit when we gave them the right to vote.

We even hear it from a woman, Ann Coulter. Women became a huge and powerful voting bloc that rarely change its tune the numbers show very little fluctuation in their leftist leaning, as explained earlier.

One can only imagine a country where statists, leftists, cuckservatives, and neocons might not have existed if women had not been granted the vote. Whatever the case, a large statist government is now a pressing issue, with much of it being the responsibility of idealistic, dumb, and dangerous policies supported by women and feminized SJW men.

To take this a step further, the world becomes more feminized each day and traditional sex roles get reversed look no further than the new Star Wars6 and Mad Max7 to see the effects of this feminization.

In modern culture, we have women being glamorized in roles of power and strong, independent, women that can do what men do. This propaganda easily translates to the ballot box.

Hillary Clinton's Socialist Manifesto Shows Why Women Shouldn't ...

Not on my watch!

The feminization of everything is a weak attempt to indoctrinate young men to believe that women are leaders and that women are masculine. In response, weak men are followers of their causes and beliefs.

This is something men, young and old, should strive to be conscious of every day.

We, as men, must be aware of this political bloc illustrated in the Democratic party. As we can see in the chart8 previously discussed, men tend to fluctuate their vote based on the individual, women vote based along strict party adherence9. Women are one solidarity voting bloc for large government and Democratic party lines.

This is dangerous, because it is determining the fate of our country and our future.

We are now on a path to destruction and drastic change must occur.

The fate rests in the hands of men, not idealistic, statist, Leftist women, nor SJWs.

We must take back our country, if not by the voting box, then by any means necessary.

Enhanced security for MPs amid terrorism fear

MPs are to get an “enhanced” security package amid heightened fears about the threat of terror attacks.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) said it had reviewed measures to ensure they are “appropriate to changed circumstances”.

The move comes after the Commons vote on bombing Syria saw protests outside MPs’ constituency offices and homes.

There have also been concerns that backbenchers could be a soft target for Islamic State extremists.

In a letter circulated to politicians, chief executive Marcial Boo said the expenses watchdog had always “taken seriously the need for MPs and their staff to be secure”.

“But recent events have led us, with the Police and the House of Commons, to take stock of our arrangements to ensure that they are appropriate to changed circumstances,” he wrote.

“This letter announces enhancements to the security measures available to you and your staff, and how to claim for them.”

Ipsa has distributed – but not published – guidance prepared by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) and the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI).

Mr Boo urged members to “take the precautions outlined” but said the watchdog would also fund a “standard package of security measures”.

“You should of course only claim for measures where you believe there to be a genuine need and which are proportionate to that need,” he wrote.

If MPs receive “specific threats that relate to their parliamentary activity” they should “immediately” contact their local police commander who will recommend further steps.

The letter added: “All security measures for MPs that are funded in line with the arrangements outlined in this letter will be published in a way that cannot be identified to any individual MP, precisely in order to maintain MPs’ security, whether they have claimed for additional security measures for themselves or not.

“This enhanced security process should give you, your staff and your family greater peace of mind.”

Jim Mone/Associated Press

Two months after allegedly getting into an altercation with a 19-year-old near a New York City club, Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith was cleared of any wrongdoing Friday.

According to Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the 30-year-old veteran will not face any charges stemming from the incident.

Per Shayna Jacobs and Rocco Parascandola of the New York Daily News, Smith was accused of choking a man near celebrity nightclub 1OAK in November 2015 after getting heckled.

After the report was initially published, Smith was quick to challenge its credibility on social media:

He also announced his intention to move on after his attorney, Alex Spiro, called the allegations absolutely false, per ESPN.com s Dave McMenamin and Brian Windhorst.

First of all, things haven t been reported the right way, Smith said. But the team and I have spoke.

We had conversations. Coach (David Blatt), Griff (general manager David Griffin) and some of the players. I just don t want to be a distraction to nobody else.

And we just got to move forward.

Smith was traded from the New York Knicks to the Cavs last season, and he has been an important contributor during his first full campaign in Cleveland.

The former New Orleans Hornets first-round pick is averaging 12.2 points per game in a starting role, and he is connecting at a 39 percent clip from three-point range.

Cleveland remains the favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals for the second year in a row, and the fact that Smith no longer has legal issues hanging over his head could only serve to improve his focus and the team s play overall.

All MPs are to be offered additional security at their homes and offices after a series of death threats2 in the wake of the vote on extending air strikes in Syria.

Counter-terror police have issued new guidance to MPs about how to “protect yourself as you go about your work” while parliament’s watchdog has said they can claim additional expenses for security.

It comes after both Conservative and Labour MPs who voted in favour of air strikes were subjected to death threats and intimidation on Twitter and Facebook3.

Some MPs were sent pictures of dead babies while one protester was jailed for saying he would bomb an Conservative’s house after she voted in favour of air strikes.

The 66 Labour MPs who voted against air strikes were “named and shamed” by a left-wing group which supports Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour leader, and condemned as “warmongers”.

Marcial Boo, the chief executive of the expenses watchdog, has written to all MPs in an attempt to give them, their families and their staff “peace of mind”.

He said that “recent events” have caused both the watchdog and the police to “take stock of our arrangements to ensure they are appropriate to changed circumstances.

All MPs have been sent guidance by the National Counter Terrorism Office while they are also being offered for the first time a “standard package of security measures”.

The measures, which are being offered to any MP who makes a request, include alarm systems and improved locks.

Enhanced security, such as CCTV and more advanced alarm systems, are benig offered to MPs who have received “specific threats that relate to their Parliamentary activity” after consultation with the police.

The letter added: “All security measures for MPs that are funded in line with the arrangements outlined in this letter will be published in a way that cannot be identified to any individual MP, precisely in order to maintain MPs’ security, whether they have claimed for additional security measures for themselves or not.

Charlotte Leslie, a Conservative MP, was trolled by a white Muslim convert who was jailed for saying that he wanted to “show her what it’s like to murder innocents.

Craig Wallace, 23, of Willesden Green, north London, who converted to Islam while serving a jail term for attempted robbery, said that he wanted to bomb Tory MP Charlotte Leslie’s house.

Just three weeks after he was released from prison he launched a tirade of abuse at the Bristol North MP on a thread of comments on the UK Truth Movement Facebook page.

He wrote: “I’m going to smash her windows then drop a bomb on her house while she’s tucked up in bed . You dirty f****** pig-s******* s*** .

I’m going to find her and show her what it’s like to murder innocents .

You dirty pig-f****** w****.”

The posts were seen by her father and reported to police, and Wallace was jailed for eight weeks.

He also described shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn as a ‘war criminal’ and a ‘terrorist’.

Neil Coyle, the MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, said police had stationed extra officers outside his surgery after he received an apparent death threat on social media.

Malwarebytes, Once A Teen Vision, Raises $50M for Security Software

$

When Marcin Kleczynski was 12, he downloaded a pirated video game into his family s shared computer, infecting it with malware. That would have landed most kids in big trouble. But in Kleczynski s case, the mistake led to much different consequences.

Now 26, Kleczynski heads the profitable company Malwarebytes1, which announced Thursday it raised $50 million from global investment firm Fidelity Management and Research Company.

That Series B round brings the Santa Clara, CA-based cybersecurity company s total fundraising to $80 million since 2008, when Kleczynski, still a teenager, founded the software startup with three partners.

Malwarebytes arose from a pledge Kleczynski says he made as a twelve-year-old after he learned how hard it was to purge the malware from his family s computer.

I will spend the rest of my life helping people deal with this, the young CEO remembers vowing to himself.

Knowing little about programming at the time, Kleczynski (pictured above) Googled around and found an online security forum where people were trading tips about combating malware a rising problem at the time. A forum member showed him a method to clean his computer. It involved some 40 or 50 steps and took Kleczynski three days.

This is crazy, he recalls thinking. He started to learn about programming.

Fast forward to 2008: Kleczynski and his small team put out an anti-malware app focused on consumers, which he says brought in half a million dollars by the end of that year. Malwarebytes offered to clean computers of existing malware at no charge, and then sold customers an anti-malware software shield for $25 a year.

That generated a lot of cash, even though fewer than one percent of those consumers buy the product, Kleczynski says.

But the real benefit comes from the business leads they provide. A dental office worker might tell her boss about Malwarebytes, for example. By 2011, when Kleczynski was a computer science student at the University of Illinois, Malwarebytes was gaining some traction with small and medium-sized businesses.

In mid-2014, Malwarebytes raised a $30 million Series A funding round led by Highland Capital Partners.

Kleczynski says the startup had positive cash flow and didn t need the money, but the young founders wanted help from professional managers. At the time, Malwarebytes didn t have a chief financial officer.

The company plans to use its new cash infusion from Fidelity to continue building its business customer base, which now includes large enterprises.

In 2015, Malwarebytes introduced a suite of products tailored for businesses, including a version of its anti-malware software, which protects computers and devices. Its Anti-Exploit for Business is a shield against cyberattacks that take advantage of vulnerabilities among browsers and applications.

To get both products, companies can sign up for Malwarebytes Endpoint Security. The full service costs about $50 per computer, but rates vary because Malwarebytes offers volume discounts and multi-year contracts, Kleczynski says.

The business products have raised the company s billing run-rate to over $100 million and boosted revenue by more than 100 percent, according to Malwarebytes CFO Mark Harris. The company became profitable last year, Kleczynski says.

Two years ago, 75 percent of Malwarebytes revenue came from consumers.

Now, it serves 70,000 businesses, which provide about half its revenue, Kleczynski says. Malwarebytes signed more than 400 deals over $10,000 in 2015. Since May, it has landed six deals over $100,000, he says.

Malwarebytes is used as an alternative or adjunct to anti-virus software, and is compatible with other types of cybersecurity protection that businesses routinely buy to cover all lines of defense, Kleczynski says.

No solution detects everything, he says.

Kleczynski says he wants to focus on healthy company growth for the next five years. The plan could include acquisitions or an IPO. Malwarebytes will keep eyes trained on what customers want, and add more engineers to its staff of 350, he says.

Currently, two-thirds of Malwarebytes employees are engineers.

I love it that way, Kleczynski says.

Palestinian teen tries to stab security guard, shot dead: police

A Palestinian teenage girl tried to stab an Israeli guard at a West Bank settlement on Saturday but was shot dead, police said, in the third settlement attack in a week.

“A 13-year-old Palestinian girl with a knife in her hand ran toward the civilian security guard at Anatot (settlement),” police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement. “The guard opened fire, gravely wounding her and medics pronounced her dead shortly afterward.”

On Sunday a Palestinian teenager entered the southern West Bank settlement of Otniel and stabbed to death Dafna Meir, a 38-year-old nurse and mother of six, at her home.

Palestinian Teen Tries To Stab Security Guard, Shot Dead: Police

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged that the alleged assailant’s home would be demolished as a deterrent.

On Monday, a new knife attack on a street in Tekoa, another West Bank settlement, wounded a 30-year-old pregnant woman . The alleged assailant was 17.

A total of 156 Palestinians and 24 Israelis have been killed in three months of attacks since October 1, according to an AFP count . Most of the Palestinians killed were carrying out attacks and many of the assailants have been young people, including teenagers.

Police said that initial investigations into Saturday’s settlement incident showed that the girl left her home in a nearby Palestinian village, feeling suicidal after arguing with her family.

“She had a knife and intended to die,” the statement said.

Most of the previous knife attacks occurred in public places, including checkpoints and junctions .

They regularly result in the death of the alleged perpetrator.

The latest settlement attacks further boosted tensions after months of unrest, raising fears of an escalation in violence as well as a harsh Israeli crackdown on Palestinians.

Israeli military chief of staff Gadi Eizenkot told a security conference on Monday that a crackdown, such as new restrictions on Palestinian workers, could push more Palestinians toward violence.

“It would be a bitter mistake to impose curfews and closures,” he said. “That would work against Israeli interests.”

US ambassador Dan Shapiro on Monday condemned the stabbings as “barbaric acts of terrorism,” but also questioned Israel’s policies concerning settlements in the West Bank.

The settlements are seen as major stumbling blocks toward peace efforts since they are built on land the Palestinians view as part of their future state.

“This government and previous Israeli governments have repeatedly expressed support for a negotiated settlement that would involve mutual recognition and separation,” Shapiro told a security conference.

“Yet separation will become more and more difficult” if Israel continues to expand settlements, he said.

Internet of Things security is so bad, there’s a search engine for sleeping kids

Shodan, a search engine for the Internet of Things (IoT), recently launched a new section that lets users easily browse vulnerable webcams.

The feed includes images of marijuana plantations, back rooms of banks, children, kitchens, living rooms, garages, front gardens, back gardens, ski slopes, swimming pools, colleges and schools, laboratories, and cash register cameras in retail stores, according to Dan Tentler1, a security researcher who has spent several years investigating webcam security.

“It’s all over the place,” he told Ars Technica UK. “Practically everything you can think of.”

We did a quick search and turned up some alarming results:

Internet Of Things Security Is So Bad, There's A Search Engine For Sleeping Kids

Yeah, we did a double-take too.

The cameras are vulnerable because they use the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP, port 554) to share video but have no password authentication in place . The image feed is available to paid Shodan members at images.shodan.io2 . Free Shodan accounts can also search using the filter port:554 has_screenshot:true3.

Shodan crawls the Internet at random looking for IP addresses with open ports .

If an open port lacks authentication and streams a video feed, the new script takes a snap and moves on.

While the privacy implications here are obvious, Shodan s new image feed also highlights the pathetic state of IoT security, and raises questions about what we are going to do to fix the problem.

Of course insecure webcams are not exactly a new thing . The last several years have seen report after report after report hammer home the point . In 2013, the FTC sanctioned webcam manufacturer TRENDnet4 for exposing the private lives of hundreds of consumers to public viewing on the Internet .

Tentler told Ars he estimates there are now millions of such insecure webcams connected and easily discoverable with Shodan . That number will only continue to grow.

So why are things getting worse and not better?

The curse of the minimum viable product

Tentler told Ars that webcam manufacturers are in a race to bottom . Consumers do not perceive value in security and privacy .

As a rule, many have not shown a willingness to pay for such things . As a result, webcam manufacturers slash costs to maximize their profit, often on narrow margins . Many webcams now sell for as little as 15 or $20.

“The consumers are saying ‘we’re not supposed to know anything about this stuff cybersecurity,” he said. “The vendors don’t want to lift a finger to help users because it costs them money.”

Further Reading

Internet Of Things Security Is So Bad, There's A Search Engine For Sleeping Kids

One of the world’s most prolific pieces of malware is found in cams from Martel.

If consumers were making an informed decision and that informed decision affected no one but themselves, perhaps we could let the matter rest .

But neither of those conditions are true . Most consumers fail to appreciate the consequences of purchasing insecure IoT devices . Worse, such a quantity of insecure devices makes the Internet less secure for everyone .

What botnet will use vulnerable webcams to launch DDoS attacks ? What malware will use insecure webcams to infect smart homes ? When 2008-era malware like Conficker.B affects police body cams in 20155, it threatens not just the reliability of recorded police activity but also serves as a transmission vector to attack other devices.

“The bigger picture here is not just personal privacy, but the security of IoT devices,” security researcher Scott Erven6 told Ars Technica UK. “As we expand that connectivity, when we get into systems that affect public safety and human life medical devices, the automotive space, critical infrastructure the consequences of failure are higher than something as shocking as a Shodan webcam peering into the baby’s crib.”

Admiring the problem is easy .

Finding solutions is harder . For his part, Tentler is sceptical that raising consumer awareness will be enough to solve the problem . Despite tons of press harping on about the privacy implications of webcams, it s pretty clear, according to Tentler, that just telling people to care more about security isn t going to make a difference.

Instead, he argues it’s time to start arm-twisting vendors to release more secure products.

FTC to the rescue?

When it comes to strong-arming manufacturers, government entities like the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) may be able to help .

Ars UK spoke with Maneesha Mithal, associate director of the FTC s division of privacy and identity protection, and she was quick to mention several examples where the organization went after at-fault companies . In recent years according to Mithal, the FTC has prosecuted more than 50 cases against companies that did not reasonably secure their networks, products, or services.

The FTC takes action against companies engaged in deceptive or unfair business practices, she explained . That includes IoT manufacturers who fail to take reasonable measures to secure their devices.

The message from our enforcement actions is that companies can t rush to get their products to market at the expense of security, she said .

If you don t have reasonable security then that could be a violation of the FTC Act.

In addition to the precedent-setting enforcement action against TRENDnet, the FTC also issued security best practices for IoT manufacturers7 back in January 2015, urging them to bake in security at the design phase rather than bolting it on as an afterthought . Vendors should train their employees in security best practices, the FTC said . Such practices could be a “defence-in-depth” strategy to mitigate risks, pushing security patches to connected devices for the duration of the product life cycle, and so forth.

This is all sensible, top-notch security advice .

The FTC even followed up with an official guidance document8 in June and a series of workshops for businesses9 on improving their security posture.

Erven told us that these new guidance documents are a warning to businesses to improve or else. “The thing that really does come next after guidance is regulation, if they don’t pick up their game and implement the official security guidance.”

It may already be too late to avoid regulation .

Mithal told Ars that the FTC has asked Congress for federal data security legislation that would give the commission the authority to seek civil penalties for companies that don t implement reasonable security .

Rather than mandate highly prescriptive, technology-specific legislation (for instance, you must use this firewall and that kind of encryption ), the FTC seeks a process-based approach that will remain valid even as technology continues to advance.

Palestinian girl tries to stab security guard in Anathoth

Guard shoots and kills 13-year-old who assaulted him with a knife; she apparently fought with her family and left her home in ‘Anata with the intention to die.

Danny Adino Ababa

A 13-year-old Palestinian girl tried to stab a civilian security guard at the entrance to the settlement of Anathoth in the West Bank’s Binyamin region on Saturday morning . The security guard shot and killed her before she was able to hurt him.

Initial investigation found that the Palestinian girl, Raqiya Abu Eid, had a fight with her family, leading her to leave her home in the nearby village of ‘Anata with a knife in her bag, apparently planning to die . Her father went after her, but arrived at the scene shortly after the attempted stabbing.

When she arrived in Anathoth at around 8am, she encountered the settlement’s security guard who asked her to identify herself, leading her to run towards the guard, knife-in-hand.

The guard managed to dodge the knife and then shoot her, critically wounding her .

Paramedics tried to resuscitate her, but had to declare her dead at the scene.

The girl’s father was arrested and taken for questioning at the Ma’ale Adumim police station, and police will try to ascertain whether the family knew the girl intended to stab Israelis and if so, whether they did anything to stop her.

Her mother, Reeda Abu Eid, said there had been no trouble before her daughter left the family home, a tent in the Palestinian village ‘Anata.

“Her father works in a farm and Raqiya used to go to him .

I didn’t see her when she left so I expected she had gone to her father,” she said. “Raqiya is a small girl, how could she stab someone?”

The family is originally from the village of Yatta, near Hebron, and has only recently moved to ‘Anata.

Statistics show that a third of the attackers or would-be attackers in the current wave of violence have been under the age of 201, with the most recent of them being Othman Shaalan, 19, who carried out the stabbing attack in Tekoa that wounded Michal Fruman2, and Morad Adais, 16, who murdered Dafna Meir3 in Otniel.

Roi Yanovsky, Elior Levy and Reuters contributed to this report.

‘We are vital to the security of the nation’ says Banham boss

Banham, a high-end security and lock company that protects the mansions and valuables of some of the wealthiest people in Britain, celebrates its 90th birthday this month . The anniversary has prompted a firm that is usually very publicity-shy to open the doors to its facility in Earlsfield, in south-west London, for the first time.

Many of the rooms in the new 20m fortress are still unfurnished, but the main boardroom boasts a glass partition featuring portraits of the two founders, William and Marie-Ann Banham, the grandparents of the company s two current directors, Lucie Banham and Charles Hallatt.

'We Are Vital To The Security Of The Nation' Says Banham Boss

The company is still entirely owned by the family . Being private appeals to our clients as we don t put much information into the public domain, says Hallatt .

We can be very discreet.

Banham burglar alarms are ubiquitous around affluent areas of London, such as Kensington and Chelsea we ve saturated these areas, Hallatt says but the company has expanded into several other kinds of security, from panic rooms to bodyguards, which is helping it to secure new customers nationwide.

CCTV and hi-tech security are the fastest growing parts of the business2, and represent half of the company s 30m turnover . The work includes looking out for anomalies in the footage.

We re monitoring these properties around the clock and we offer a key-holding service, so that if an alarm goes off, we have a response team on motorbikes that will check it out within 30 minutes, says Hallatt.

In a secure control room, live feeds transmit footage from CCTV cameras3 at 30,000 properties . We only place cameras in the main areas of a house, says Hallatt .

Some of our weirder customers ask for them in bedrooms but we say no.

Private alarm-receiving centres (ARCs) like these have become crucial in the fight against crime, the company s bosses claim . Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the incidence of home break-ins has dropped considerably over the past decade, partly because of these safeguards, but false alarms are a serious issue.

So many people have alarms now that the police cannot cope with the volume of calls, claims Hallatt . They couldn t cope without the private security industry .

Private centres are vital to the security of the nation . Footage is also used to prosecute criminals.

Banham s new focus on electronic surveillance and security could eventually extend to smartphone apps4 . There are ways to open your front door with your mobile phone now, says Lucie Banham .

We re looking into these technologies but tentatively . New doesn t always mean best.

Banham customers can already use an app to check live CCTV feeds, and technology is used to monitor for carbon monoxide and gas leaks, and even to conduct maintenance on burglar alarms via weblink once a year but nothing that could compromise the security of the building . It s got to be completely hack-proof to be viable for us, says Hallatt.

The company has come a long way since the early days, when it invented a lock that confounded burglars at the time, giving rise to the company s first motto: Why fear burglars? .

'We Are Vital To The Security Of The Nation' Says Banham Boss

The locks are patented5, which means that only Banham can cut new keys; it costs 122 to change a lock and 200 to install a new one.

Customers are influenced by style trends as well as security .

Last year there was a big trend for copper, so we brought out copper-plated locks, says Banham . This year, it s rose gold and satin black.

No job is too big or too strange for the firm . We sold a luxury safe for 30,000, says Banham .

It was gold-plated and had a watch-winder included . And we ve done a panic room designed to look like the interior of a yacht.

We had one customer who was allergic to most kinds of metal, so we had to make the lock and key out of gold, she continues.

Banham prefers to do most of its business in the UK . We have done some things in the south of France and Canada but it s a long way to send an engineer, says Hallatt.

The business is growing by between 5pc and 20pc a year, partially through acquiring small companies that can t afford to keep up with the raft of regulation in the industry .

We buy one in 10 that we see, says Hallatt . We re a cash-rich company so we can ride out economic storms and we have money to invest.

The new base boasts enough room for its 330 staff to grow by a third . Many of its people are trained in-house two of its directors started out as apprentices when they were 16 .

The company requires an unimpeachable character , Hallatt says .

You have to be terribly honest to work here.

A 13-year-old Palestinian4 girl has been shot dead at a settlement in the occupied West Bank by an Israeli5 security guard after she attempted to stab him, Israeli police said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the teen, named as Ruqayya Abu Eid, had fought with her family and left her home ‘with a knife and intending to die’.

The knife-wielding teen ran toward a security guard at the entrance to Anatot settlement, near her family home, and he opened fire at her.

But members of Ruqayya’s family contradicted the police’s account saying there had been no trouble at home before the teen left with the knife

The teen, named as Ruqayya Abu Eid, had fought with her family and left her home ‘with a knife and intending to die’, according to Israeli police

Ruqayya’s father arrived at the scene after the incident and was arrested, Samri added.

Other members of her family, however, contradicted the police’s account.

The teen’s mother, Reeda Abu Eid, said there had been no trouble before her daughter left the family home, a tent in the Palestinian village Anata.

‘Her father works in a farm and Ruqayya used to go to him . I didn’t see her when she left so I expected she had gone to her father,’ she said. ‘Ruqayya is a small girl, how could she stab someone?’

Pictures from the ground appeared to show a knife on the ground near Ruqayya’s body.

Israeli lawmaker Esawi Freige, from the left-wing Meretz party, criticised the killing of the 13-year-old.

‘Even if she had a knife, it would have been possible to arrest a girl that age instead of killing her,’ he said.’Instead of attacking the Swedish foreign minister and claiming that her comments are detached from reality, Netanyahu should check what’s happening in his country and how children are being killed without a trial.’

In the past few months, Israeli forces have killed at least 149 Palestinians, 95 of them assailants according to authorities.

Most the others have died in violent protests . Almost daily stabbings, shootings and car-ramming attacks by Palestinians have killed 25 Israelis and a U.S .

citizen.

Many of the Palestinian assailants have been teenagers.

On Sunday, an Israeli mother of six was stabbed to death at her home in a West Bank settlement and a 15-year-old Palestinian was arrested for the attack .

On Monday Israeli troops shot and wounded a 17-year-old Palestinian who had stabbed and wounded a pregnant Israeli woman in a settlement.

The bloodshed has been fuelled by various factors including frustration over the 2014 collapse of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and the growth of Jewish settlements on land Palestinians seek for an independent state.

Palestinian leaders have said that with no breakthrough on the horizon, desperate youngsters see no future ahead .

Israel says young Palestinians are being incited to violence by their leaders and Islamist groups that call for Israel’s destruction.
